Many business owners struggle with the daunting task of getting their business to operate smoothly without their constant oversight. This challenge often leaves them checking emails at all hours, unable to unplug and take a real vacation, and perpetually stressed that their business might collapse the moment they step away. If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. This case study explores how a strategic approach to video production and editing services helped one business owner, Tom, to overcome these challenges and achieve a self-sustaining business.
Tom opted for the base package of a YouTube marketing and growth service, which involved filming his own content under creative direction and then handing off all the content to a team of experts. This team handled editing, design, SEO optimization, and distribution to his audience. They also tracked each video's performance and ranking metrics to measure growth across his channel(s). The goal was to guide every prospect from an engaged audience member to a qualified lead and eventually, a paying customer.
Adrienne, the co-founder and CEO of Run Like Clockwork, and Mike Michalowicz, an entrepreneur and author, identified four key challenges that business owners need to address to get their business to run itself:

Many business owners struggle to
get their businesses to run
without them. So they're left
checking emails all hours of the
day, never unplugging to take an
actual vacation, and always left
stress thinking about their
business. And if it will crash
and burn anytime they step away
for just a moment, does this
sound like you at all? If so,
you're not alone. Far too many
business owners are in the same
exact boat. They're the captain
working hard all throughout the
entire ship. But neglecting
their necessary time on the
bridge, charting the course and
navigating the way forward.
Let's talk about four challenges
you need to fix to get your
business to run itself. Hi, I'm
Adrienne with run like
clockwork, and we believe it's
time to stop feeling overwhelmed
and overworked. As business
owners, the world needs you to
step up as the visionary leader
you are. So if you're ready to
create a streamlined, successful
business that can run without
you, then you're in the right
place. Many businesses are
experiencing one of the four
business challenges that are
stopping them from becoming a
business that runs like
clockwork, these challenges can
be categorized into four unique
roles, business owners like you
are playing that keep them
stuck. And when you learn how to
remove yourself from doing
everything by shifting your time
and priorities, then you'll
start to create even more value
for the business to know more
about the business challenge
that's keeping you stuck from
setting up your business to run
like clockwork, then let's
assign each challenge to a
position. The first position is
the maxed out CEO, you want to
grow. But you don't have the
bandwidth to do that. Because
you're already working 24/7
There's literally no more time
in the day, your business may be
doing well financially, you're
making sales, you understand
your clients, but you're
currently maxed out with your
time and you can't make any more
money. Because you don't have
any more capacity to give sound
familiar, you've got potential
leads and clients. But maybe
you're even having to say no to
people, because you don't have
any more time in the day to
serve them. Scaling sounds
really amazing. But maybe you're
terrified of that because more
growth currently equals more
time that you don't actually
have. The second position is the
ready to scale CEO. This might
mean you're putting in lots of
effort trying to grow. But the
results don't seem to match up
with the effort. And you can't
really figure out why you want
to grow and scale your business.
But you don't know what you need
more of. In order to do that.
You don't know what you need to
do, you're kind of scared of
what you don't know. And you're
not even sure if you can handle
the growth with the current
systems and capacity that you
have now. So you're working a
lot and not getting all the
results that you might expect.
You may even be afraid to stop
doing certain things, because
you're not really sure which
things are working, and which
aren't. The third position is
the scaling too fast CEO,
you have absolutely no more
time. And you're scaling too
fast as the CEO, you've always
dreamt of building a business
that can scale. But now with all
of the overwhelm and stress,
you're not sure that you want
this dream anymore. And you know
that if you don't get the
systems and the team in place
soon that you won't be able to
maintain the level of excellence
that you currently deliver to
your customers and clients,
you're probably worried about
your reputation with them and
maintaining consistency as the
company continues to scale at
this rate. And right now, you're
just not sure how to stop this
moving train. This is actually
quite common as people start to
scale. It's something that we
think we want we've dreamt
about. But it starts scaling
much more quickly than we
anticipated. And then they don't
know how to get the systems and
team in place to quickly support
that. So you might be feeling
burnt out, you might be feeling
like you're dropping a lot of
balls. You can't keep up with
the demands, you're not
sleeping, well you're stressing
and things are starting to fall
apart. The fourth position that
you may be in is what we call
the business Whack a Mole.
You're in this feast or famine
cycle. And so without being
involved in the marketing and
the sales and the delivery,
things aren't going to continue
to happen on a consistent basis.
You're still the linchpin to
each of those departments
continuing to run and grow. But
like when you solve one problem,
usually the next one pops up and
you're in this kind of cyclical
effect. Like I go out there and
I market and sell and then I
have to go hide and deliver
everything to our customers. And
then I realized I have to pay my
team and I have to go back out
here and sell more things. And
they don't know how I'm going to
do that because I have Haven't
made any money in a while. So
which one of these positions are
you currently experiencing? Are
you currently feeling maxed out?
Do you feel like your company is
ready to scale but that you're
not sure how to do that. Maybe
you're scaling too fast
currently, and you're worried
about how to manage that. Or
maybe you're playing that
business Whack a Mole game where
you have to still be involved in
everything. And so when you
disappear, the sales and the
fulfillment disappears. Which
one or multiples of these
positions are you currently in?
If your business cannot run like
clockwork without you, then I
guarantee one of these or more
than one of these positions
might feel really familiar. And
it's time to make a change, to
free up your time, energy and
focus to own and lead your
business not run and operate it
yourself. One of our clients
Gabriela learned and implemented
the clockwork framework inside
of her business and was able to
reduce the length of her work
day by over an hour every single
day. Plus, she got more time
back to spend with her family.
When her team doubled in size
without bloating her budget.
