In this video, I will show you how to create an online course that sells! For all beginners out there, this is the perfect getting started guide you need to plan, create and launch your first or next online course.
The knowledge industry is continuing to grow rapidly and the opportunity to earn more by working less is available to everyone!
The knowledge industry is
continuing to grow rapidly where
you can sell your knowledge and
expertise online using online
courses. So what I want to talk
about today is a simple getting
started guide for how to plan
and create and launch your first
or next online course. So before
we dive in, I want to first say,
I have tested this process with
dozens of clients in our
business here at Content Supply,
where both with ourselves and
with these clients we have
tested away and proven away for
online courses to be launched in
to earn a profit with and then
repeat that process again and
again, for continued results
that are incredible to enable
business owners that sell their
knowledge to earn more while
working less. It's not a
completely passive income
solution. But it's it's pretty
close, it's a great way to
provide value with actionable
steps and frameworks and
directions to cover any kind of
topic out there. So I'm just
going to show you a quick
getting started guide. But if
you want more comprehensive and
hands on support to help you
plan, create and launch your
next or first online course,
then click that link below and
schedule a call with our team.
Okay, so then let's get into our
course launch framework. I've
simplified launching courses
into seven easy steps. The first
step is ask this is where you
interact with your current
audience and identify what they
need help with what problem you
can uniquely solve for them. And
that way, they will almost tell
you what you can then go and
create with an online course if
you don't ask and have a
conversation in the early stages
before you often build and
launch and promote anything and
spend all that money and time,
then you can really start to
prove and test out your idea
this ask can come in the form of
an email that gets sent out to
your email list of potential
buyers, maybe it's a social
media post are a series of posts
that tease different ideas to be
like, Hey guys, I'm thinking of
creating an online training
experience where I help you
learn how to grow your business,
using content that's not super
unique, or not really a stand
out message. But that's just a
quick example of something that
you can say just to tease an
idea. And maybe they already see
you as the go to expert when it
comes to Instagram video
marketing. Or maybe it comes
down to how you approach your
Facebook ads. Or maybe it's how
you cook a certain meal, or how
you've written a best selling
book, whatever topic that you
talk about frequently, and have
an idea for and recognize that
there is an opportunity in the
market to serve your audience,
have this conversation and ask
them would you be interested in
buying joining me in an online
course that's all about X, Y, or
Z, your topic of choice,
definitely early on, start
testing your message around this
course that would include the
problem that you're solving for
what the solution is, aka, you
know what you will offer with
your course. And then of course,
the payoff, what is the end
result that someone can expect
when they go through your online
course. So to simplify this
first step, again, it's all
about asking, asking if someone
who would be interested and
getting results with this online
course topic idea.
So as you start to collect this
information, and be like yeah,
this is coming together, this is
going to be an incredible thing
to offer. Well, that becomes
your next step in your course
launch framework. And that is
offer you want to craft in put
together a compelling
opportunity. An offer that your
audience can buy into this offer
is packaged up into the product
of the online course that you're
selling. But the offer itself,
that's where it's all about
speaking about benefits, the
features what's included in the
course, maybe they get access to
20 different video lessons to a
comprehensive workbook to one
coaching call with you to free
access to your best selling
book, whatever it may be, you
can break down what they get as
far as what's included. The
focus here is to make sure you
put together a simple yet a
clear offer and start to package
your message around this offer.
So that way you know how to talk
about what you are presenting
with your online course. So as
you ask and start to collect
this research, then you have
your offer put together. Then
step three is all about
validation. This is where you
validate your online course and
prove that people actually want
it and not just say they want it
through one of two ways. The
first way is to literally put
together a waitlist page. And
what this looks like is a simple
opt in where someone can put in
their name and email and say
yes, I'm interested in joining
the waitlist and being the first
to be notified about this
upcoming online course. And they
get added to your email list.
And then when your course
becomes available, you can share
access with them, this is a more
effective way to gauge interest
as to whether people are
actually going to pay for this
online course the second option,
which is my most preferred,
which truly does validate, and
test out this online course idea
is to put together a pre sales
sales page. This is where you
put together a workable version
of your sales page with the
sales message. But you actually
set up a payment processor, and
a way for people to say yes, I
want to get access to this
online course. And I'm going to
pay for it right now. And once
it becomes available, maybe in a
month from now, when it's built,
then I would be excited to have
access. So people often show
that they want something when
they pay for something you see
this often happen with pre
orders for an upcoming book. Or
maybe you buy tickets in advance
of a movie release at a theater,
there's plenty of different
preorder options. And this is
basically a pre order of your
online course to make sure
people actually want to pay for
it. And guess what, at this
point, you haven't really built
anything around your online
course. So this is a powerful
way to validate it both with
gauging interest from people who
simply to say, and raise their
hand, yes, I'm interested, or,
yes, I'm committed by paying for
the course in this pre sales
phase. The next step is creating
a launch plan. So once you've
proven that people actually pay
in one access to your course,
then you must make a plan around
what your goals are with this
course launch. What the timeline
is from the moment that you
start promoting to the moment
that you may close down cart, or
access to the course, maybe what
tools you need. This may be
tools related to where you're
hosting your online course with
a tool like teachable, maybe
it's where your email marketing
will exist on a platform like
Active Campaign. Maybe it's the
tools you use around your lesson
creation, how you'll film and
record your training lessons.
Based on the customization of
your course you need to identify
what those tools look like. And
then maybe what your team may
look like what team members you
can use, from email writing, to
social media marketing, to AD
buying, to video editing, to
design writing, you can have a
whole list or you can take those
roles all on yourself if you are
building and launching this
course by yourself. Again, if
you want this completely hands
off and hire a trusted
professional team to step into
your business and do all of this
course launch for you. Then
click that link below and
schedule a call with our team.
And we will provide the best
solution for your business.
Another thing to make sure to
plan is your curriculum outline.
And then identify a lead source.
How are you going to capture new
leads this often looks like a
webinar or masterclass that you
do and present before people can
buy the course. And then make
sure to plan out your email
sequence. You don't have to go
and create and write these
emails yet, but plan out what
the sequence looks like how many
emails when these emails will be
going out. And then of course,
and one of the most important
pieces and marketing calendar
you need to actually promote
what you're selling with this
course and what the benefits and
features are. Once you have this
plan in place, then it's time to
create your course content,
create your marketing content.
This includes all of the videos,
photos, workbooks designs, all
included inside of your course
both from the product creation
side to then the marketing
creation side. So that way you
can promote and then deliver the
product with the content that is
inside of the course, especially
with the first version of the
course, make sure you focus on
getting it done versus getting
that perfect. If you focus on
perfection and go to
professionally film your first
course ever, you may find that
there may be updates in the
future and that course will need
to be updated again and that
you've spent more money with
that initial investment than
what was necessary. So my first
recommendation is maybe try DIY
and your first version of a
course. Or if you're like hey, I
just want everyone to do it for
me. I've got the budget to
invest, then by all means let's
walk through this process from
step one to step done to get
this launch for you. And again,
my team is available to do that.
And then during this creation
phase is make sure to also test
the customer journey, their
experience and make sure there's
no broken links or there's no
cogs in the system to slow
things down. One of the biggest
struggles And oftentimes it's
it's a good struggle is when an
app or software is not ready for
the capacity of attention and
leads and sales coming through,
and that many cells are missed
out on or refunds are requested
because certain tech or tools
were not properly set up, or
we're not properly understood
from the initial plan. Once you
have all of the content created,
then you are ready to launch and
get it out to the world. During
this launch phase, you
definitely want to focus on
scheduling all your marketing
content. And consider affiliate
opportunities who are other
people in your network who have
similar audiences to you who can
also promote and benefit from
affiliate commission, your
online course. And during this
time, you also need to make sure
that you build your membership
area, place that you have your
course curriculum and all its
content, and resources
accessible for your paying
clients. And then the final
step, which is an amazing stage
to be at is repeat. This is
where you rinse and repeat this
entire process. Again, for any
future launches, the great part
is all of these assets already
built from the emails to the
videos, to the photos, all the
promotional materials, all that
upfront work that you put in,
it's all built and a lot of that
can be reused. Maybe just
there's some minor updates to
certain launch dates and
information or updates to
messaging choices to make
conversions even higher for the
next time around. But focusing
on repeating this process to the
point that you can make it
evergreen, meaning that you're
selling it continuously, without
a need to constantly be
launching. One thing I
recommend, especially with new
courses is that wait until you
make at least $10,000 on a
course a single course before
you start investing in paid ads
or bigger promotional
opportunities. Because if you
don't prove that people are
actually willing to pay for this
product, then there's no need to
invest in honestly lose out on
all this marketing budget and
money you put into paid ads when
this product is actually not
proven to sell. And that's why
we walk you through from this
first step of asking and then to
validating to make sure that
people are actually going to pay
for it. So as you quickly get to
that first 10k and much more
beyond, then turn to paid ads
and turn to opportunities to
start to scale up the amount of
revenue you make with your
online course. And that's where
passive revenue comes from.
That's where growth can really
come from as you are truly
serving an audience of customers
all around the world with your
knowledge, if you are brand new
to course creation, if you've
never launched a course before
and you're interested, or you've
launched and maybe it's fallen
flat, and you're like What did I
do wrong? How can I improve upon
this and actually make a course
business a viable and profitable
business for myself. Let me know
your stage and where you're at
in your journey in the comments
