You must make your customers the HERO in your business! Your customer is the Luke Skywalker. You are the Obi-wan.
The relationship between Obi-wan and Luke was one of trust and support. They needed each other to succeed in their ultimate mission: to defeat Darth Vader and the evil Galactic Empire.
Is that how you see your relationship with your customer? Because if not, then you're missing out on a HUGE opportunity to truly connect with them, and to be seen as a trusted partner who offers value rather than just another pushy salesperson.
First, take a look at what you're selling. Are you selling "products" or "solutions"? If it's products, then you're on the wrong path. You need to start thinking about how your product solves problems for your customer—because that's where their focus is going to be when they're looking for what you're offering. They have a problem, and they have identified your product as a potential solution. So why not just tell them that it's the solution? Why not step into their shoes and feel what they feel?
