There are many ways to market your online course.
It can feel overwhelming at times, especially when you consider the fact that you're competing against other courses out there.
What's the best approach to take?
In this episode I'm going to share with you a few strategies for promoting your online course with video marketing.
Let's talk about how to create and promote your online course using video marketing. Welcome to Video Marketing Made Easy where we believe video is the most powerful way to stand out in the market, monetize your message and grow your business. So when it comes to this amazing, new, newish world of the knowledge and creator economy, selling your knowledge, selling your passion and monetizing your message is easier now more than ever, but the hard part is standing out enough to be top of mind with your best to fit clients and customers out there your future students who are going to buy your online course. So let's talk about a few key tips to consider to use the power of video marketing in order to sell your online course better. First off, when it comes to selling your online course it's important to consider the pre sell phase. This is before you actually go to create any of your lessons, your your content for the course, it's testing whether people are interested to buy online course that you are thinking about and dreaming about and have ideas for this is a big mistake that I've seen many course creators make is that they go and even hire a whole video production team to film all their content professionally. And then they go to launch that product. They patch it all launch it, but no one really buys it because that product of an online course wasn't proven to sell first. So first, you want to test whether people are interested in your online course idea and whether it can help them get the results that they're looking for. So to use video in this first step is to record a video from your phone or webcam or your camera of choice. And simply ask your audience. Hey, what is your biggest struggle with this? Maybe ask Hey, what are you struggling with when it comes to creating more effective professional and high performing video content? People raise their hand be like, I hate video editing, or I don't know what to say in my videos, or I don't have like an easy way to create consistent videos I'm sporadic, or I don't feel like I'm good looking enough to be on camera. The list goes on of mindset blocks or resource blocks is blocked boxes that people have that keep them from creating more consistent and effective video content. Think about it for your own industry and your brand. What are those struggles? What are those problems that people will quickly identify for you? And then how can you use those notes and feedback and add it as a lesson or key feature of the course. Oftentimes, you may be switching your curriculum out and your ideas out based on the feedback you receive. And a great part of this process and this initial outreach video that you invite people to answer a few questions, gather that feedback from them is that then you can send them off to join a free waitlist or to purchase a pre sell from an order form setup before the course is even made available. So it doing so when you're like, hey, thanks for taking this survey, send them over here to this registration page to join that, that waitlist or to buy that pre sell course, you can have another video on that next step of their journey that tells them more about the course and ideas that helps persuade them as to why they should buy and invest. Now, maybe the price is going to go up later on. After the full course is built, you name it a way to persuade them to buy now keep in mind this is still during the pre sell phase, but you are already using video to connect with your audience and guide them to the sell. So as a course creator. At this point, you have a video for outreach, gathering customer feedback, and information to help build your course. Then you have a first version of your sales video. On the sales page of your course as you're getting people to learn more about the course you start to educate them, you can apply the education inside of videos you create on social media, put it as resource inside of your email list. Whether you have one person on the email list, or 1000s to millions, you can share videos in a way that helps prepare them and build demand for the upcoming online course. So as you build this demand, and you educate them on the pains, the problems and the solution of your online course and prepare them to eventually buy it when it's available. Or maybe they're already purchasing it from that pre sell page we mentioned. Then what you can do is start to build out your course as people purchase it and video comes into play here. I do recommend including your face in some form throughout the online course, lesson creation so people can make that connection with you and the other experts that maybe feature inside of your course that can initially start from your phone your webcam. A lot of times people record lessons that are strictly just screen recordings of slideshows or other demonstrations but Do your face more lean into that. And that's where you're also creating videos for that customer journey. Okay, let's take a step back and kind of look at a high level view. When we're talking about video marketing, for course creation and that journey of selling more of your online courses, think about the entire customer journey. we've referenced it all throughout and I look at the customer journey and marketing overall and broken down into three phases. The first phase is traffic, second is leads the third is sales. And this relates to the relationship side of marketing is traffic is the no bleeds is the love, and sells is the trust. So no love trust people say no light trust a lot but the no love trust implies that relationship development think about your significant other and that dating experience. First you had to get to know each other. It's not like you can go off and marry someone and date someone solely based on them not knowing you even exist. So you have to build up their brand awareness and get people to know that you exist they Kay you have a business and you have an online course is going to be available. And then as they get to know you, then they go to your website they become a new lead, maybe they opted that waitlist or buy the course pre sell, then it's building that love. First you must get people to know you in order for them to love you. And then that trust happens during the transaction, they show that they trust you when they buy from you. So considering okay to build up this relationship get people to know me what kind of messages do I need to share with video on social media or wherever my audience hangs out online or offline, then as they show up to my website, what additional messages after they know me will get them to really fall in love with my brand. And what we stand for a Brand Story Video works well here or a sales message for persuasion works well here. And then after they know love and now trust you after purchasing, they will be inside of your product, your online course and watching your lessons. And that content is all about consistently delivering trust based content, a way for them to get quick wins and in depth solutions to the problems that they were experienced experiencing beforehand. And now that you're solving for them, so this is how you create and promote your online course using video marketing. It's considering the entire customer journey, and building up that no love trust factor or creating more video content for generating more traffic, capture more leads and making more sales. I hope you found this helpful as a course creator.
